The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare offers several services to support Namibian Children and Parents. The Ministry offers the following Services
After School Centre
The After School Centre specifically focuses on disadvantaged children such as street children and children from economically challenged families and communities in Windhoek. The After School Centre is born out of the realization of the plight of the street children of Namibia and it’s fully administrated under the auspices of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child welfare.

Grants
Maintenance Grant
Maintenance grant is financial assistance that is given to a parent with a child(ren) that are under the age of 18 whose spouse has died, this financial support is for the care of children.
Special Maintenance Grant
Special Maintenance grant is financial assistance that is meant for Children living with Disabilities to help improve the living standards of these children

Food Bank
This programme is aimed at addressing the urban and peri-urban poverty (inclusive hunger). It distributes food and non-food parcels to persons with an average household income of less than N$400 per month. The number of beneficiaries currently stands at 76 818 persons which translates into 17 879 households.

Donation Account
An account developed to receive financial donations that can be used to address the poverty related issues in Namibia. There are certain criteria attached to it therefore not any person can benefit from it. Some of the projects that can be assisted through the account include:
- Payment for the construction of shelter for destitute persons
- Construction and improvement of sanitations and water supply facilities for the poor and affected communities
- Community projects aimed at alleviating poverty, etc.

Some of documents needed for applications to our Services can be obtained at the following Government O/M/As:
- Ministry of Health and Social Services: Health records and medical records
- Ministry of Education: School fee exemption and school reports
- Ministry of Justice: Court orders for placement in foster care or a place of safety
- Ministry of home Affairs and Immigration: All Relevant Namibian Documents, such as, Birth Certificate, Death certificate, Marriage Certificate and Identity Documents (ID)
